World Naked Bike Ride In Kent

World Naked Bike Ride UK will held two rides in Kent this summer in Folkestone and Canterbury. The World Naked Bike Ride is yearly ride held throughout the world to give awareness to improve the safety and road condition for cyclists, and criticize the world's reliance on fossil fuels.

The naked ride in Folkestone will be held on July 1, 2017, while the date for the Canterbury ride is May 27, 2017. This will be the 6th naked ride in Canterbury while fourth in Folkestone.

Organisers for the Canterbury ride said: "Sadly, too many cyclists are injured or killed in road traffic collisions across the UK every day. Kent, and the Canterbury area are, regrettably, included in this grim statistic.

"The most common excuse given by motorists who have just killed a cyclist is "I didn't see them". Strangely, the WNBRs across the world have proved that naked cyclists ARE seen and not ignored."

"Nudity is permitted as part of the demonstration to emphasize the vulnerability of the human body when faced with the everyday dangers of cycling on the UK roads.

"Nudity is not compulsory - all WNBRs ask participants to ride "as bare as you dare" and many use body paint to decorate themselves or to paint appropriate slogans on their body."

The World Naked Bike Ride 2016 Buffalo upstate New York July 9, 2016. It was a successful ride with an estimated 300 participants wearing just underwear or body paint and some are completely naked.

The ride was about promoting people-powered transportation "bring awareness to oil addiction and the negative impacts of car culture. Our naked bodies will symbolize the vulnerability of cyclists on the roads. Come "as bare as you dare" to the Buffalo Underwear/Naked Ride and help us promote our vision of a cleaner, safer, body-positive world."

The participants started at the corner of North and Franklin at 7 p.m., and the ride officially got underway at Days Park around 8 p.m.

Bristol and Cardiff World Naked Bike Ride 2016

The 2016 Bristol World Naked Bike Ride purpose is to make people aware of the dangers facing riders on the road. You can see participants who are completely naked, while there are people who are partially clothed. They paraded around the city on Saturday June 4.
It was a celebration of bikes and bodies, these cyclists wants safer roads and they are demonstrating against car culture and oil-dependency.

Around 250 cyclists took part in the 6.5-mile city center ride which was organized on the theme "as bare as you dare". Their starting point is at the Full Moon pub in the Stokes Croft area.

The ride was rerouted due to other protest, and coincided with some other planned city center marches that includes anti-immigration rally. Thank goodness the bike ride participants didn't encounter any trouble.

 

 

Also the 9th annual Cardiff World Naked Bike ride was held last Sunday June 5. About 150 cyclists took part in that event. The 8.5-mile ride set off from Sophia Gardens, and followed a route which included Cardiff Castle, North Road, the Civic Center, The Hayes, Wales Millennium Center, and then arriving back at Sophia Gardens.

Bristol's Naked Bike Ride 2016

The World Naked Bike Ride will take place again in Bristol this June dubbed as "harmless fun". Bristol will witness again naked people on their bikes for a cause as part of the World Naked Bike Ride.

The ride will take place on Saturday, June 4 from The Full Moon pub in Stokes Croft at 11am. The ride will probably start at noon and it will be 7 mile cycle around the city. Everyone is invited to the event.

Organizers said that the event is for "celebrating bikes in a fun, visible way and showing how exposed and vulnerable riders in Bristol feel. We want a less car and oil centric society.

Bristol was the European Green Capital in 2015 and yet air pollution causes over 120 deaths here each year. We must be more ambitious about escaping car culture's grip and freeing our streets for use by everybody.

Non-sexual public nudity is legal in England. We are not trying to cause alarm or distress. Feel free to look the other way."

2016 Melbourne Naked Bike Ride event

The yearly naked bike ride event happened in Melbourne last February 28, 2016. There were hundred of participants that wore nothing but sunblock and a helmet. It was organized by Dallas Goldburg. The event is to raise awareness about the environment and cyclist safety. 

The participants cycle throughout the 15-kilometre route around Albert Park and St Kilda beach.

St. Louis Missouri: 2015 World Naked Bike Ride in

St. Louis Missouri naked bike ride. About a hundred participants join the 8th annual World Naked Bike Ride in St. Louis Missouri. The event started in the Grove Neighborhood in south St. Louis and ended in the same place. Participants met in front of the HandlBar on Manchester before riding the 12 mile ride.

2015 World Naked Bike Ride will start in Portland

The World Naked Bike Ride will come to Portland on Saturday, June 27, 2015 it will start at Colonel Summers Park off S.E. Belmont Ave. and S.E. 20th. The group said that the naked bike ride is a protest against our dependency on oil and for cyclist rights. On their website, the naked bike ride is an  “annual, worldwide bike ride that highlights the vulnerability of cyclists everywhere and decries society’s dependence on pollution-based transport.” The event attracts thousands of participants which is actually growing every year since it started in 2004.

In 2014, the naked ride kicked off at Normandale Park in residential northeast Portland, some of the neihbors complained about it. In 2013 the event took over the southwest Park blocks around the Portland Art Museum.

Event organizers did not say where the ride stops, but they usually make their way through downtown Portland.

In Los Angeles (WNBR LA), the event will starts at 2:30 p.m June 27 around Downtown LA/Echo Park. But for privacy (nude bike, privacy???) they do not post the location/route all over the web. Ipswich Naked Bike Ride

Ipswich, United Kingdom - World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR) organization which is an International organization that set up and organize nude cycling protests around the world want to organize one in Ipswich next year.

Clacton has already had one and organisers want to take it to Colchester and Chelmsford this year, then in Ipswich and Norwich next year.

Robert Brown will be leading the planning for the Colchester, Chelmsford, and Cambridge rides, he was also the organizer in the Clacton event.

Since it is a protests instead of events, they only have to coordinate with the police. Brown said on an interview: "It is not an offense to be nude. It is only an offense to be nude if you cause distress or alarm. So it is legal to be out nude, but it would be an offense to drop your trousers in public."

The riders will be protesting on car emissions and better infrastructure for bicycle safety.

World Naked Bike Ride Exeter 2014

Naked cyclists hits Exeter streets to promote and environmentally friendly transportation. The ride started at 1pm at floodplain besides Trews Weir. The last World Naked Bike Ride in Exeter was held in 2012. The cyclists were there early to have their bodies painted before the ride.

According to the group the ride was for "a peaceful, positive and fun protest exposing the need to rediscover non oil dependent modes of transport, and highlight the vulnerability of cyclists as well as meeting new people and having fun decorating our bodies".

Gary Numan pop star from the 80s was seen in area to watch the ride last Sunday June 29, 2014. Exeter's first World Naked Bike Ride was held back in June 2011.

World Naked Bike Ride 2014 Portland June 7

A World Naked Bike Ride will be held in Portland on June 7, 2014. There are no route announced yet but the organizer of the event confirmed it and will start at 8 p.m. The starting place is at Normandale Park, along Northeast 57th Avenue.

Thousand of participants is expected to join the event. Usually at this event participants wear very little or nude, sometimes they wear paint.

World Naked Bike Ride is a worldwide event were the participants ride their bicycles in nude to promote a body-positive world. Events like this take place in more than 74 cities in 17 different countries.

However not all are amused with the event. There are people in the area that are not happy with it taking place in their neighborhood.

Jean Marshburn a local resident said:

“Kids can't go to strip clubs." “It's kind of the same thing, I guess. They should probably go someplace else ‘cause there are a lot of kids around. It's kind of like an adult activity."

Last year more than 8,000 people participated in the event that took off at the South Park Blocks in Southwest Portland.
