Dubai City Bike Friendly

Dubai City Bike Friendly, Dubai, bike lane, cycling lane,

Dubai city will construct cycling tracks to be a brike friendly city. Mattar Al Tayer Chairman of the Board of Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has pass a design on the construction of cycling tracks that stretches 52km that includes 11 residential districts in Dubai that is estimated to cost Dh40 million or about 10 million US dollars. Wow, that's really costly.

“The construction of the cycling tracks is part of a master plan developed by the RTA to provide dedicated cycling spanning the entire Dubai Emirate in a bid to encourage the use of bikes as an environment-friendly transit means, as well as for the benefit of cycling enthusiasts. It also comes in implementation of RTA’s vision of safe and smooth transport for all as the advanced countries are focusing on raising the proportion of pedestrian and cyclists since they involve traffic, health and environmental benefits,” said Mattar Al Tayer.

It will cover Al Barsha, Al Khawaneej, Al Warqa, Al Qouz, Al Safouh Road, Al Mamzar Park, Mushrif Park, Hor Al Anz East, and Mirdif. Al Tayer also said that the selection of these districts was based on a number of parameters including the tourist and aesthetic nature of the area and its attraction to cyclists and residents of the neighbourhood.

Now it is more than 100km-long bike tracks, including 25km-long bike lane on Jumeirah Road and about one km-long lane near the Mall of the Emirates station.

Sad News in Boston

What happened in Boston Marathon was gruesome. My prayers and thoughts are with the victims who lost their lives at the Boston marathon and to all Bostonians.

The bombings in Boston killed at least three people and injured scores. Authorities in the U.S. described the incident as an act of terror, although have not yet speculated on who was behind the blasts. President Obama vowed on Monday that those behind the bombing "will feel the full weight of justice."

At least 128 people were hospitalized following the incident, and as many as eight were in critical condition, officials said.
