Velcro Straps ratchets, wire and Boa locking systems have been dominating the cycling world for some time now and lace-up shoes seems to be the thing of the past. Or so we thought, there seems to be a resurgence of lace-up cycling shoes. Some professional are now wearing them like Taylor Phinney, Sir Bradley "Wiggo" Wiggins and Alberto Contador.

Cycling shoes is essential to pro riders, it should give them comfort at the foot-to-pedal junction. According to riders who use lace-up cycling shoes, laces are advantageous since they give unmatched comfort around the whole foot. It gives the wearer flexibility in adjusting preassures around the foot. However, the downside of lace-up cycling shoes is that they cannot be adjusted while riding.
