American River Parkway Rangers Will Expand Where people can Walk their Dogs
SACRAMENTO — CBS13 reports that Park rangers will propose to the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors to expand the area where people can walk their dogs in their new effort to protect the American River Parkway. But they also said that the strict guidlines on leashes will stay.
“I’ve never had a problem with my dogs, nor have I seen anyone else walking their dog have a problem with bicyclists or walkers,” Mark Gibbons said.
“There’s some secluded areas where I can let her off the leash,” Gibbons said.
Park rangers said that under the current law dogs are not allowed on the trails, since they present a public safety risk, cyclists may run over them causing accidents, or runners might get bitten.
“There have been times where dogs have been on the bike trail, and I’ve had to brake and swerve out of the way,” Daniel Mueller a cyclist said.
